Date Rape Drug Found In Kids Toys
Gee, you think it's time for toy companies to stop doing business with China?! I mean, how much more needs to happen before the toy companies smarten up, act responsibly, and stop doing business with these jokers? I think this definitely falls under the category we know as GMAFB.

Geesh! That's some sloppy work they're doing over in China. Or is it by design?
ReplyDeleteAnd which came first: the date rape drug that was applied to the toys, or the toys being made with chemicals that someone figured out that could also double as a date rape drug?
One more question: what's this world coming to?
All good questions Mark. Unfortunately, I don't have the answers. All I know is that I become more and more frustrated every day over these such things.
ReplyDeleteIt really is getting past the point of being scary. I have a 15 month old daughter, and I have no idea what I can and can't get her because of this. I'm scared to get her anything!
ReplyDeleteI know what ya mean Bucky! My suggestion is to stick with things that are fully made in the USA and buy NOTHING that reads, "Made in China" on it. Though that rules out most things nowadays, it's appears to be the only safe bet.
ReplyDeletePlus, if more and more people do that it will begin to send a strong message to these companies to stop outsourcing overseas!

There must be some ethical companies running from china and paying their workers real money. It's ashame that the ethical people who could help improve the crappy situation over there will be brought down when the people finally rebel against importing this dangerous stuff
Not trying to seem like I believe in conspiracy theories, but it seems like a concerted effort to slowly affect the brain power of our future generations. The big US companies that have been stupid enough to do so much manufacturing in China are now being paid back. We can't trust their brand names anymore because of lead and drug contamination.
ReplyDeleteFirst, it was cheap shoes to make our feet hurt so we had to sit around a lot. Then, it was out and out stealing of our computer and rocket research designed to look like collaboration. Now it's blatant poisoning of our children.
Let's all not by any more "Poison Me Elmo's"! And what toxin are in all those baby bottle nipples made in China? Will that be next? Will it be the final straw?
It's almost impossible to find toys not made in China, so no toys for kids! Let's stick to books and homemade craft toys. Really, we may as well let them run with scissors at this point. It's safer.
I've read about this and although I think it's sad I cannot help but notice that the media chooses not to point out the dangerous substances that are manufactured right in out own country that find its way into toys, our food, skin care products, household products, etc., It's almost as if they want people to believe that the only "safe products" are made right in the good ole USA, unfortunately that is not always the case.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I might rant about this on my alternative health website and point to some of the alarming things that are manufactured with the USA and that repeatedly gets the FDA stamp for being "ok". However people have died or had severe reactions to the items.

Of course this needs to be addressed but I want to hear the media pick up more things that happen right in the USA.
@Mom: "Let's stick to books and homemade craft toys." -Always a good idea. I think we've gotten a little too toy-crazy over the years. Too many people think that kids need a lot of toys (manufactured toys) to be happy and to have fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, because if you give kids the choice of something constructive and creative to do, or some toys to play with, most times they'll chose the first option and ditch the toys altogether. But so many people are brainwashed by all the marketing and commercials that the companies pump out everywhere that they don't even know it.
@Opal: I agree 100%. While the media does cover problems with things manufactured here at home, they certainly don't cover it enough. And right now the "hot topic" is China.
IMHO, that's one of the problems with the media...they only report on certain issues at certain times, and many times they're the wrong issues.
And the root of the problem is that the media is just another business. They're main interest is money and that's it. And because of that they all too often focus on less-important issues because they're more sensational and will sell more copies, get more viewers, etc.
And I think that's a large part of the issue here. It's much easier to stir up controversy by reporting on the dangerous toys made over in China than it is to report on similar things made here in the US. Bottom line...that type of news sells more, and unfortunately, that's all the media really cares about.
And btw, DON'T even get me started on the FDA! :P They've become nothing but a joke. More and more useless and corrupt as the days go on. The FDA and the drug companies have their hands in each others pockets WAY too much these days and it only seems to be getting worse.
So yes, Opal. Rant away! Any attention brought to the matter is definitely helpful. :)
