Shareapic - Make Money With Your Pictures!

Got Pics? They'll Pay You!

When it comes to making money online, there's no question that revenue sharing is "where it's at" right now on the Web. With video sites like Revver, and social networking sites like Yuwie, Internet users can now cash in on their own content and Web activity, thus, making money from the very things they used to do for free.

The most recent website to adopt the revenue sharing model is Shareapic. Shareapic allows the average Internet user to make money from the pictures he/she puts online, whether they be on MySpace, Facebook, eBay, in forums, etc.

And for us bloggers, it's even more exciting. Why? Because we include pictures in our posts all the time. And now we can actually monetize them!

How Does Shareapic Pay?

Shareapic pays based on image views. What this means is that every time someone clicks to view one of your pictures anywhere online, or views a picture in one of your online galleries, you make money.

The Shareapic pay rate is simple: CPM of $0.22 to $0.25 (or rate per 1000 impressions).

Ca$h payments are made through PayPal, though you can also choose to be paid by gift certificate for places like: Amazon.com, Target, eLUXURY, etc. Personally, I'll just take the cash, thank you very much! ;)

Shareapic In A Nutshell

• Shareapic pays you to upload and store unlimited pictures
• Link them to blogs, MySpace, eBay, forums...anywhere
• Share them with family, even order prints of them
• Upload unlimited pictures
• No file size restrictions
• Create unlimited galleries
• One click posting to MySpace, WordPress, Blogger, Hi5 and more

But wait! That's not all! LOL.

Make Money From Other Peoples' Photos

Shareapic also pays you for referring new users. Each time you refer a new user to Shareapic, you earn 10% of their image views as well - forever. Shareapic offers several link and banner codes that you can use to invite new users.

In my experience over the two weeks, the sign up rate has been pretty impressive. I credit this to the fact that Shareapic appeals to just about every Internet user out there, is completely free, and is incredibly simple to use.

Additional Traffic To Your Photos

Shareapic also includes a variety of built-in options to help you generate even more traffic to your pictures and picture galleries, creating that much-loved viral effect.

Digg: Each picture gallery page has the "Digg This" submit button built into it. As we all know, Digg.com can be an awesome source of traffic. If someone Diggs your gallery or picture(s), then other people on Digg have an opportunity to look at it (and Digg it as well).

Social Bookmarks: Each gallery page includes a bookmark button that allows people to post your gallery to their own pages on their social network profile, blog, personal page, etc. Here are the bookmarking options:

Link to it!: Each individual picture has a "Link to it!" option that allows people to link directly to your photo. This automatically generates the HTML code necessary for it to be posted on a blog or website, in forums and on message boards, and in Email or instant messages.

Share on Facebook: Each individual picture also has a "Share on Facebook" option that allows people to add your photos right to their Facebook pages!

Each of these are excellent when it comes to generating traffic and will definitely serve to boost your Shareapic earnings. Bottom line, more views = more $$$.

Keeping Photos On Your Own Server

If you're like most website owners, you like to keep your pictures on your own server in order to keep a handle on how your pages load. No problem. Here's what I do...

I upload the pictures to my blog, just like I would ordinarily do when including pictures in a post. Then I upload to Shareapic, copy the picture URL, and link it to the picture on my blog. This way, I can be sure that my pictures will always load the way I want them to, while earning money from them as well. :)

Overall Shareapic Conclusion

So far, I'm quite pleased with Shareapic. I've always used photos in my posts here on this blog, and now I can make some money from them as well. Shareapic is a really nice way to monetize content on your site without taking away from the quality of it.

As for issues, the only thing I've noticed is that due to the rapid growth they've experienced, the site has been a wee bit slow on occasion, though I haven't noticed that recently. But other than that, it's definitely two thumbs up for this one.

Make Money With Voxant News Feeds

The News That Pays You...Virally!

These days, there are countless ways to make money online. Some work quite well, and some don't. Some add to the overall online experience, and some, well, they greatly detract from it.

But there's one money-maker I've come across recently that both works well, and adds something quite beneficial at the same time. In fact, it's quickly become one of my favorite money-makers here on this blog, and its performance is quite noteworthy. What is it? It's Voxant. And I'm quite pleased with it so far.

Yes, Google AdSense does still outperform it, of course, but the fact that Voxant provides such useful (and entertaining) content, while at the same time generating blog revenue, has made it one of my favorite money-makers.

I've been testing Voxant and its capabilities here on this blog for a little over a month now, and I can definitely say that I'm thoroughly pleased with the results.

So What Is Voxant?

Basically, Voxant (The Voxant Newsroom) is a news syndication company. The Voxant Newsroom provides access to hundreds of thousands of fully licensed news stories that you can publish or embed on your blog or website. Here's an example of a Voxant News Feed:

With Voxant News Feeds, you can embed and share content from major news providers such as: CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, The Associated Press (AP), MTV, The Sports Network, NHL, CNN, PBS, BBC, HowStuffWorks, etc.

And the best part is that Voxant PAYS your for this.

How To Make Money With Voxant

Voxant pays you a guaranteed flat-rate CPM (cost per thousand plays). For videos, Voxant pays you $4.00 (Updated: $7.00) or every thousand plays. For text and images, Voxant pays you $1.00 for every thousand renderings. So, every time a Voxant news video is played on your site, you'll earn a CPM of $4.00, as seen in the chart below.

And since Voxant has a set CPM, earnings are easy to understand and calculate. With five hundred video plays, you make $2.00. With a thousand video plays, you make $7.00. With ten thousand video plays, you make $40.00, etc., etc.

And all Voxant news content is accompanied by advertising, so every time the news embedded from Voxant's Newsroom is viewed on your site, you earn a guaranteed CPM from it. You also earn money whenever someone embeds the content from your site and puts it on their own site!

Earning Money From Referrals

Voxant also pays a guaranteed CPM for referrals (see chart above). And the Voxant system is extremely viral (think YouTube). So, whenever someone embeds the code on their site from your site, not only do they make money, but you make money as well! Here's a look at how Voxant's viral technology works...

Voxant's viral syndication technology allows news feeds from the Voxant Newsroom to be put directly onto your blog or website. And from your site, the Voxant content can be redistributed to an infinite number of other blogs and websites.

Translation: more money for you!

Voxant News Feeds and Categories

The Voxant Newsroom offers a huge selection of video, text, and photos from over 200 different news sources. Simply find in-depth news, embed it to your site, and start building your community!

The Voxant Newsroom includes a vast array of news categories such as: U.S., Local, World, Business, Politics, Health, Sci-tech, Entertainment, Sports, Life, Humor, Press Releases and Learning.

Here's an example of a Voxant News Feed for the humor category. This Voxant News Feed is 420w x 600h in size.

How To Make Money With Voxant

To make money with Voxant News Feeds, just click the Embed button on the news feed above, then follow the easy step-by-step directions.

Voxant provides a tracking system and a dashboard that records where the feeds and stories have traveled on the Web, as well as how often they're viewed.

Again, each time the news embedded from Voxant's Newsroom is viewed on your blog or website, you'll earn a guaranteed CPM from it. And likewise, you also make money whenever someone else embeds content from your site and it is in turn viewed on their site.

Voxant News Feed Setup:

1. Click the embed button located on the news feed (seen above)
2. Enter your email address and click I Accept. Then click Next.
3. Choose which size video player you want, and click next.
4. Click the Copy button to copy the html code.
5. Paste the code on your blog and on ANY other website.
6. Then, complete the registration process here: http://www.thenewsroom.com/register

Important: Revenue numbers are tracked by your email address, so don't forget to register afterwards with the SAME email address!

If you have any questions, or need any help with Voxant, just let me know! Happy money-making!

Btw, don't forget to check out Yuwie! It's the social network that actually PAYS you for using it! I totally love Yuwie, and hopefully you will too! :)

Intense Debate Comment System - The Review (Part 1)

Intense Debate Comment System
The Review (Part 1)

As many of you know, I recently installed a brand new comment system on this blog. The new comment system is Intense Debate, and my reasons for using it are fairly obvious, I think. Simply put, Blogger's new comment system pretty much stinks, IMHO.

The Back Story

Recently, and without warning, Blogger (Google) installed a new Blogger comment system, a comment system that is, as I see it, extremely lacking and very shortsighted. It's almost as if Google doesn't understand bloggers (or blogging, for that matter) at all, anymore.

But since this is a site review of the brand new Intense Debate comment system, I won't go into the details regarding Blogger's recent comment system update. Instead, you can read about it in these blog posts if you're interested:

• Blogger sucks more than ever not allowing extern blog links
• Blogspot Blogger comment form change unfair to ALL bloggers
• Blogger Changes Commenting System

Anyway, on with the review...

Intense Debate - The Features

The Intense Debate comment system offers several cool (and very useful) features that are sure to appeal to many (if not all) bloggers. But, in order to make this as simple as possible, I'm merely going to touch on some of the major highlights.

• Track Comments - allow your blog readers to track comments (and the people who make them) across multiple blogs.

Interested in the comments your friends make? No problem. If you'd like to be notified as to when, where, and what your friends comment, then you're in luck. Intense Debate provides this such functionality through RSS feeds for each user. Subscribers will be notified in their RSS readers with a direct link to view the context surrounding the comment.

Want to track your own comments? Done! Intense Debate also provides email notifications that will let you track your own comments across multiple blogs. This way, as soon as someone replies to one of your comments, you'll know about it!

• User Profiles - learn more about commenters, and let them learn more about you, with user profiles.

Intense Debate allows you to set up your own personal user profile. Why would you want to do this? Simple. Whenever you leave a comment on a blog, people will see your personal avatar. And right next to your avatar is a "menu" button. This menu button gives everyone the link (URL) to your blog (or blogs), as well as the link to your profile on other websites. In addition, it gives them the direct link to the RSS feed for your comments.

For example, here's what it looks like in the comment section:

As you see in the above screenshot, anyone reading any of my comments can click the "menu" button next to my avatar, and from there, they can go directly to any of my blogs! They can also go direclty to my Facebook page, my MySpace page, my Intense Debate profile page, etc.

And through that very menu button, they can also subscribe to my blog and/or to my comments, as seen in this screenshot...

These are functions that I really like. And as far as I'm concerned, the more information bloggers can see about you, and the more you can see about other bloggers, the better! The only catch is that such information should be presented in a way that is both useful, and unobtrusive, to the actual reader. And the Intense Debate menu button, with its drop-down function, seems to do that quite successfully.

• Threaded Comments - All discussions can be organized into threads, which makes it easier to follow a conversation.

Personally, I've always greatly preferred threaded comments to non-threaded comments. In my opinion, threaded comments not only make it a lot easier to follow what's going in a comment thread, but they also make it a lot easier to reply effectively as well. I mean, why have your reply fall directly under Barny's comment when you were actually replying to Fred's comment!?

• Reputation/Comment Voting - Let your readers' commenting abilities be reflected in a reputation.

Each Instant Debate user has a "reputation" attached to his/her identity. This reputation is displayed whenever he/she makes a comment on a blog. The reputation value serves as a quick overview of a commenter's history, and is based on both the quantity and the quality of the comments he/she makes.

The Instant Debate comment system determines the quality of a person's comments through comment voting, which also serves to move the best comments to the top. This allows you and your readers to find the best comment content right away, while at the same time, bypassing the so-called "muck".

Many sites now implement this type of "voting" system, and basically, it's a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" approach. Here's an example of what it looks like in an Instant Debate comment thread...

I definitely like the comment voting function, though I also recognize that it can be abused/gamed fairly easily. And this such vulnerability could definitely become problematic under the right circumstances. For example, let's say that you have some sort of influence over a certain number of people (and who doesn't!), and you ask/influence those people to either "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" a particular individual.

Obviously, the end result would be a very skewed, inaccurate and biased rating/opinion of that particular person and his/her comments. And such a rating could be very damaging, indeed.

I think it may somewhat force (or at least influence) a person to add more positive comments (and to refrain from negative ones) in order to retain a "good rating." And in the end, what good does that really serve? Will positivity replace truthfulness? Will the presence of an overall "rating system" influence a person's comments?

Well, I guess we'll see! All I know for sure is that there does need to be much more work and attention applied to this particular area.

• Import Comments - You can import your existing blog comments to Intense Debate via the Import Comments tool (still in beta). And in the event that you decide Intense Debate is not for you, then you can also "take you comments with you" via the Export Comments tool (also in beta).

The Import Comments tool allows you to do just that - import your blog's previous comments (from WordPress, TypePad and Blogger) to Intense Debate. But one word of caution...it's still in beta. I repeat, it's still in beta!

I was gutsy (or silly?) enough to try it out myself the other day, and honestly, I kinda wish that I hadn't. The overall result? Well, let's just say that not all of the comments made it through successfully. Some comments seem to have been lost completely, and some, well, I have no idea where the heck they went! So my personal advice is to hold off on importing comments for now. Just wait until that function is thoroughly out of beta.

I'll elaborate more on the comment import situation in my upcoming Intense Debate - The review (Part 2) post.

Intense Debate - Overall Conclusion

Overall, I'm quite impressed and pleased with the Intense Debate comment system. As of this writing, I haven't encountered anything specific that would prevent me from using it here on this blog indefinitely.

The Intense Debate comment system offers several cool and useful functions that I like (and appreciate) as a blogger. Installation was a snap, and it's definitely added something greatly positive to this blog, in my opinion. But of course, my opinion is just that - my opinion.

Intense Debate - Your Thoughts?

So what do YOU think? Do you like The Intense Debate comment system? Do you not like it? What are your thoughts? Please share.

An Easy Way To Check And Monitor Your PageRank™

I was doing a little surfing over the weekend and nearly got attacked by a shark! It looked to be a great white, and by my estimation, it was around 5 meters (17 feet) in length. Yikes!

Okay, so that's not really entirely true. Now, I was indeed surfing...but there was no shark. In fact, there wasn't any water, either. Yes, you guessed it! I was surfing the Internet, not the mighty ocean waves.

Anyway, while I was surfing I came across a pretty neat site called SmartPageRank, which allows you to very quickly check your Google PageRank™. It also gives you some other useful information about your blog or website as well.

SmartPageRank is really simple to use. When you run a domain name through the PageRank analysis tool, it'll give you the following (and very useful) information about your site:

PageRank Analysis

This section gives you your actual Google PageRank. It also gives you the option to get PageRank updates via email, so whenever your PageRank changes, you'll know about it right away.

As you can see, since Google hasn't done their PageRank update in a long time, I'm still sitting at a big, fat goose egg! I used to have a Google PageRank of 3, but when I moved this blog over to the aaroncook.com domain name back in April, I of course lost that PageRank.

Age Of Domain

The second section tells you when and how long ago a domain name was registered - right down to the number of days.

I do notice that this only provides the date information on a domain based on its current registrant. For example, the aaroncook.com domain name had actually been online for many years before I was finally able to snag it.

Site Traffic

The third section gives you a live look your site traffic according to Alexa. This section provides you with an Alexa Traffic History Graph and also links that traffic graph right to the Alexa page for your site. Pretty cool.

Web Directories

The fourth section simply lets you know whether or not your website is listed in DMOZ or the Yahoo! Directory. So far, every blog I checked on wasn't listed in either of them, with the exceptions being Darren Rowse of Problogger and Matt Cutts.

Btw, what's up with Matt's site traffic? Yikes, talk about a steady decline. I guess he's been too busy lately working at Google as head of their Webspam team and traveling around the country giving talks on white hat SEO to keep up with his blog like he used to.

Backlinks

The backlinks section is a really neat and useful section. Basically, it lists the total number of webpages that link to your domain.

And SmartPageRank's new Backlinks Analyzer is really cool. It lists all the sites and individual webpages that link to you, along with their PageRank. To see it in action, you can get a live look at the Backlinks Analyzer for my blog right here.

Indexed Pages

The indexed pages section gives you a look at the current number of pages of your website that are indexed in the major search engines: Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AltaVista and AllTheWeb.

You'll notice that the totals will vary greatly from search engine to search engine. This is because the figures shown represent the number of links that are crawled by each search engine (which varies because of the difference in size of their databases).

Website Value

This section gives you a calculation of the estimated monetary value of a website.

As stated by SmartPageRank, "This value is represents the approximate value of the website entered. Of course, this value does NOT include the worth of the company behind the website but rather is an estimated value of the website itself. Some of these valuation factors include: PageRank, traffic, backlinks, age of the domain, directory listings, and other items not shown in the summary above."

I think it's more for fun than anything else. So I decided to have a little fun with it and run some of my favorite blogs through the PageRank analyzer just to see where we all landed. Here are the results, listed in alphabetical order:

Aaron Cook Dot Com: $1,604
Brown Thoughts: $542
Bush Mackel: $1,929 (jerk) :P
Five 4 All: $407
MeAndMyDrum: $1,521
Ordinary Folk: $1,032
Revellian: $1,405

Anyway, I really like the SmartPageRank site and will continue to monitor my blog's PR, backlinks and indexed pages with it.

UPDATE: (Oct. 26th) Google just completed their PageRank update and I'm happy to report that Aaron Cook Dot Com™ has moved up to a PR of 4. Happy times!

Free Live Chat For Your Blog!

If you've ever thought of incorporating live chat into your blog, then Geesee might just be your answer. Geesee is an embedded chat service that lets you and your blog readers communicate with each other, as well as with other online users.

Having a Geesee chat box on your blog will allow you and your readers to chat with each other in real-time, anytime.
It also lets your readers communicate across any number of web sites in common chat rooms that are organized by tags.

In other words, you can use Geesee to chat about any topic while you're here on this blog with people who are on other blogs or websites! Bottom line, Geesee is a powerful connector for thematic conversations all around the web. :)

How Geesee Free Chat Works

To give you an idea of how Geesee's free chat works, I’ve embedded a Geesee chat room window at the end of this blog post. And though I've only toyed around with Geesee briefly, I must say that I really like it so far!

But this isn't Geesee's first rodeo. The Slovakian startup actually had its prelaunch back in September of '06 - and "officially" launched two months later in early November. So they've had some time to work the bugs out.

Geesee Free Chat Availability

Currently, Geesee chat rooms can be used with: Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, PhpBB, MySpace, Firefox and Netvibes. More options will follow, as user necessity plays out.

Greet Your Blog Visitors By Their Location

If you'd like to welcome your blog readers with a special message based on their geographical location, then you might want to give IP2Phrase a whirl.

IP2Phrase™ lets you put dynamic and customizable messages on your blog that your visitors will see when they land on your page. For example, if Batman were to visit your blog, he might see a greeting that reads a little something like this:

"A special welcome to all of our great crime-fighting
friends from Gotham City!"

IP2Phrase™ simply translates your visitors' IP addresses into their geographic locations. So someone visiting form Los Angeles would see "Los Angeles" in the message, whereas Batman would see "Gotham City".

You can write your own greeting or use one of the default greetings. The IP2Phrase™ service is completely free and requires no sign up or registration. Just place a snippet of JavaScript code in your template and you're good to go. The only requirement is that you give a backlink to the IP2Phrase™ site.

The only issue I see is that at times your IP address is located in a different city than you are...depending on which location your ISP is using at the time. But that's no biggy. Even though my greeting was for a neighboring city it still caught my attention enough to write a post about it!

Site Meter Gets A Brand New Face - And More...

Yesterday, the folks at Site Meter unveiled their brand new website. It's a total redesign from the old one, and in my opinion, it looks a million times better. It's very clean and very easy to navigate. Aaron likey.

Along with the same comprehensive real-time website tracking and counter tools that many have come to depend on from Site Meter, they've also introduced some brand new features that will provide you with valuable insight regarding your visitors. Yes, change is good.

But first, here's a screenshot of the new Site Meter website...

Now just compare it to the old one below and you can see the difference. It's like night and day. Well, I guess if night and day both had a lot of green on them. :P Anyway, it's definitely a big improvement aesthetically.

Over the next few days Site Meter will be taking care of a few issues regarding the new site. They'll be working on optimizing load times, tweaking some graphs and fixing a few other minor hiccups - all standard stuff when you launch a new site.

In addition, Site Meter will also be offering a bunch of brand new tools and features. Here's a list of some of the things that will be coming soon...

Demo Reports – These will show you the exact demographics of your site visitors.
User Interest Reports – These will show you categories of content people read when they're not on your site. Knowing this type of information will help you find out what your visitors’ real interests are. That's a goldmine!
Better Account Management – This will allow you to run numerous websites under one single account (I've been wanting this one for a long time!). You’ll also be able to utilize a single login for easier access and management.
Heat Mapping (Heatmaps) – Yay! Heatmaps will show you where your users’ mouse is on the screen so you can better set up your website. Trust me, heatmaps are your best friend!
Variable Format Reports and Export - Pie Charts, Bar Graphs, Line Graphs
Excel, CSV, Tab Delimited
Unique Visitors –Know exactly how many true unique visitors are coming to your site, not just unique hits.
Live View – This will give you up-to-the minute stats reporting. If you're a stats junky who has to know what's going on at all times, you'll like this one.

Site Meter will also be introducing features like RSS tracking, podcast tracking, spider reportss and online videos. Yep, that's right. Online videos. The videos will be high quality, relevant news and topical videos that you can put on your blog or website. So when your visitors read your content they can also watch related videos. This will keep your visitors on your site longer. Hooray!

All in all, it looks like Site Meter is definitely on the right track to keep growing steadily. And with the new look, now they can do it in style.

Crazy Egg - How To Track, Evaluate And Improve Your Site

There are a lot of good tools out there that can help you track, analyze and enhance your blog's performance. For example, there's Google Analytics, an excellent tool that can easily help you identify which areas of your site or blog can be improved upon so that you can turn more of those clicks into sales.

But there's also another excellent website analytics option called Crazy Egg. Crazy Egg will help you track, evaluate and improve the performance of your blog or website. It'll show you where your visitors are clicking and how you can enhance your site's performance.

One of Crazy Egg's neatest features is Heatmaps. Heatmaps will quickly show you what's hot and what's not on your site - and it comes highly recommended. For example, when Jeremy Shoemaker (a.k.a. ShoeMoney) recently presented at the 2007 Search Engine Strategies Conference, one of the biggest tips he gave was to use Heatmaps. Regarding Crazy Egg's Heatmaps he said, "Trust me, it's your best friend."

What does Heatmaps do? Heatmaps shows you where people are clicking on your webpage. It also shows you which parts of your webpage could be used for other (more productive) things - and it does this in a very precise manner. For example, Heatmaps will tell you if people are clicking to the right of an image, to the left of an image, or directly in the center of an image. Now that's cool!

In ShoeMoney's case, he had three different ways in which his blog readers could leave comments on his blog. But through the use of Heatmaps he found that his readers were only using one of them. What's that mean? It means that the other two spots were essentially being wasted and could be used for other, more productive things instead.

Here's a quick look at some of the blog and website analytics offered by Crazy Egg:

Widgetbox - A Directory of Web Widgets...

If you're like most bloggers, you're constantly on the lookout for things that can enhance and improve your blog in one way or another. Some deal with the visual and aesthetic aspects of your blog, some are entertainment-based, and some are purely functional. Either way, they're all enhancements.

And this is where widgets come in. A widget is basically a mini-application you can put in your blog that can quickly and easily provide your readers with your page information, extra functionality and even a bit of fun and games.

Enter, Widgetbox. Widgetbox is basically a directory and syndication platform for widgets that can be used on blogs and other web pages. The Widgetbox widgets work with TypePad, WordPress, Blogger and MySpace (and some others) and require no plug-ins. In addition, they're all free to use.

As for widgets in general, some allow people to bookmark your blog via the various bookmarking services on the web, some display photos on your blog, and some let people play games right on your blog or web page.

So far, Widgetbox has eight different categories of widgets: Bligets (your blog as a widget), Blogosphere, Communication, Fun & Games, Interests, Information, Media and Money Makers. I haven't gotten through all the categories yet, but I like what I see so far. It looks like Widgetbox should certainly have a good future.

HTML Color Schemes At The Click Of A Button...

Here's an easy way to create matching HTML color schemes for your blog or website - all at the click of a button. It's called Color Schemer Online (version 2.0) and it's a free online version of the Color Schemer products.

The Color Schemer Online tool comes in very handy if you're not familiar with hexadecimal color values. It's great for picking colors and even for matching palettes.

Basically, all you do is click on the color you'd like to use (or enter an RGB or HEX value) and it automatically generates a set of matching colors and their codes. You can even lighten or darken your entire color scheme automatically, or pick colors from a Web Safe Color palette.

Lightening or darkening your entire color scheme is a snap - done with just the click of a button. All you have to do is click "Lighten Scheme" or "Darken Scheme" and an entire set of matching colors and their codes will be generated automatically. Bottom line, I really like this tool.

If you've noticed any difference in the traffic coming to your blog or website from Yahoo! recently, then it could be due to the new Yahoo! Search Engine Crawler called, "Slurp."

Slurp? But This Isn't 7-Eleven!

Well, not to be confused with a Slurpee, "Slurp" is Yahoo!'s new web-indexing robot. It's their new web crawler that searches the web and indexes websites (puts content into the Yahoo! search engine).

And according to Yahoo!, Slurp is much faster and more efficient when crawling your site... meaning that it uses less of your bandwidth when visiting.

ClustrMaps - A Dandy Tool for Your Site...

ClustrMaps...A Dandy Tool for Your Site!

OK, check this one out. It's pretty cool. It's called ClustrMaps, and with it you can locate all of your website visitors instantly and for free.

At a glance, you can see where your visitors are located geographically (worldwide) as well as how many visitors you have. Pretty neat.

The results are displayed like you see in the above photo. Red dots represent the cumulative number of visitors and where those visitors came from.

Different dot sizes represent a different total numbers of visitors. For example: A small dot equals 1 to 9 visitors, whereas a large dot equals 1000+ visitors.

All in all it's a pretty neat tool that will show you from which parts of the world your website visitors are coming and how many website visitors you have.

And though the majority of my own readers come from the Unites States, it's neat to know that people form Iceland, Australia, Japan, Borneo, and practically everywhere else are also reading this blog.

The only possible downside I see with ClustrMaps is that some visitors may show up on the map in the geographical area in which their ISP (Internet Service Provider) is located, instead of the location of the computer they're sitting at and using.

But that's a minor thing. Bottom line is this thing is pretty cool, as well as and simple to implement. They generate the HTML code for you and you just copy and paste it into the template of your website or blog. And voila! Instant info.

Check it out here: ClustrMaps.com
