Serve Your Site Feed On Your Own Domain

Did you know that you can serve your FeedBurner site feed right from your own domain name? FeedBurner offers a premium service called MyBrand that allows you to do just that.

MyBrand allows you to offer your subscribers a cohesive and transparent branded experience by running your FeedBurner site feed directly through your domain. For example, rather than the standard feed URL (feedburner.com/yourfeedname) your feed URL would be feeds.yourdomain.com.

The MyBrand service is priced according to the number of feeds you have: $2.99/month for up to 3 feeds, $6.99/month for 4-9 feeds, and $13.99/month for 10 or more feeds.

In order to use MyBrand you need to be able to change your CNAME entry in the DNS records for the domain you wish to use. If you need help with this you can find it in the FeedBurner Support Forums.

To activate MyBrand just sign into your FeedBurner account and click on the My Account link at the top-left. You'll see a screen like this:

This screen gives you the easy steps to set it up. Just create a CNAME record in the DNS entry for your domain name. Your CNAME entry should be: feeds CNAME feeds.feedburner.com. Then just enter your feed domain (e.g. feeds.yourdomain.com) and click Purchase & Activate and voila!

Note: To have your FeedBurner site feed updated immediately (instead of on their automatic 30-minute interval) you can ping FeedBurner directly.

Good stuff. Didn't know one could do that. That'll certainly have some SEO benefits.

Looks like something I'll probably be interested in the next couple of weeks once I get everything onto the new domain and new servers. Thanks for the heads-up.

  3. Hi Dan. You're right, it does have SEO benefits.

You're welcome Tom. Good luck migrating everything over. It can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but well worth it.
