It's The Seven P's Blog Meme!

I was just tagged by the lovely Danielle of Pink Internet Marketing for the Seven P's blog meme, which was created yesterday by Bucky, the West Virginia blogger behind The WVb blog.

I do my best on this one, however, I must warn you! I'm a little worse for wear! See, I had an incessant bout of insomnia last night - which means that I've been up nonstop since 6:00 a.m. yesterday. And just to give you a little point of reference here, it's now 4:01 p.m. the following day.

Holy disrupted circadian rhythms, Batman!

Yeah, so here we go. And I'm gonna get a little creative on this one as well. I'm going to answer each word by using just a single line from one of my all-time favorite quotes. Neat idea, eh? Yeah, my sleepless, acorn-of-a-brain thought so, too! :P

Passion - to appreciate beauty
Purpose - to leave the world a little better
Pursuit - to find the best in others
Position - to have succeeded
Pummeling - endure the betrayal of false friends
Progress - a redeemed social condition
Personality - to laugh often and much

The Famed, Misattributed Quote

The following quote is often attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson (and sometimes Robert Louis Stevenson), however, that's not correct. It's actually an adaptation from a poem written in 1904 by Bessie Anderson Stanley for a contest covered in Brown Book Magazine.

In fact, no version of the quote has ever been found in any of Emerson's writings. Nonetheless, here's the quote...

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

The "Real" Success Poem

Success (What is Success? or What Constitutes Success?)
By Bessie Anderson Stanley

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than he found it,
Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction.

Tagging - The Fabulous 7

For this blog meme I'm tagging the bloggers who've most recently visited this blog. And what better a way to show my appreciation than to give a little link love. Of course, this meme doesn't require that I tag "seven" people, but since it's called "The Seven P's" that's how many I'm choosing.

So the Fabulous 7 are: JessicaTheCat, Terence Culkin, Bush Mackel, Valentin, Terence Chang, The Rich Blogger and Cristian Raiber.
