Beer Commercials - My, how times have changed!
It's always interesting to see how advertising has changed over the years, and especially, over the decades. Take this Labatt's beer commercial as an example. This is one of the very first beer commercials ever put on television. As you can see, it's quite tame by today's standards, and definitely leaves a whole lot more to the imagination.
But even so, they're still alluding to sex and good times by mere use of the product. I think it's particularly funny how, as soon as he pours the beer, an attractive woman suddenly appears right out of thin air. Now, I've drank Labatt's beer before, but I know that's never happened to me! Then again, maybe I was just in the wrong restaurant at the time. Or maybe I just didn't drink enough of it! Hmmm. :P
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this nice little piece of pure, classic Canadiana. And remember...When you have a Labatt's, you have an adventure!

Aaron,
ReplyDeleteVery cool video. I actually had a funny beer video sent to me a few days ago that I posted on my murphson.com blog that you will want to check out and have a good laugh!
I wanted to thank you for the inclusion in your Super Link Sunday and the mention in the audio.
cheers to beer!
Andrew
Hi Andrew! Yes, I will definitely check that out!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're quite welcome buddy. :)
Shine on,
Aaron
I've never been a big fan of beer but it's always been my understanding that the more you drink, the more attractive the opposite sex becomes. So yes perhaps you just didn't drink enough of it :P
ReplyDeleteYeah, maybe I need to try harder next time...or try something harder. :P
ReplyDeleteShine on,
Aaron
A babe in a bottle? How cool is that? If I drank beer, I probably would have been married a lot sooner. But you know -- I'd rather have commercials like that than what we have today because it's so much more subtle than what we see today.
ReplyDeleteOMG, those beer bottles looks delicious!!!!!! I miss the beer..., (well just for the last 6 days), but may be this weekend I`ll have one on my hand :d
ReplyDeleteI like this old tv commercial, it`s in COLORS!!!!!, the "Color tv" came to my country by the end of 70`s!!!!
Hi Mark. Yes, I agree. Today's commercials are a bit out of hand, IMHO. Companies seem to think that we need the images and messages "hammered" into our heads...and worse, they seem to think we actually believe them!
ReplyDeleteOf course, that IS true for the majority of the population...sadly. And those of us who actually have good heads on our shoulders are left to deal with all the nonsense!
So yes, give me a simple commercial any day. In fact, don't even bother at all. I make up my own mind anyway. :)
Shine on,
Aaron

Hi Hernan...So good to see you, my friend!

LOL. Well, here's wishing that this weekend indeed remedies that! ;)
And btw, I got you added to the blogroll now! Actually, I thought for sure I had added you the other day, so my apologies.
Shine on,
Aaron
Thank you, thank you very much!, Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Hernan. And you have a great day too!
ReplyDeleteShine on,
Aaron
@Aaron: that's odd. I put my URL in all the comments I leave. Perhaps blogger requires the "http://"? Cuz if it does, I don't and that's probably why.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out.
Hi Mark. Yeah, looks like that might be the case. Anyway, I was more than happy to point in out. ;)
ReplyDeleteShine on,
Aaron
The guy doesn't just get a woman. He gets a younger woman.
ReplyDeleteI'm a professional bartender. I've seen many men that wish for a gorgeous, blonde woman to appear from air. Too bad for them, I've never carried that particular drink ;)
@Erina: Yeah, I'd like to know in which restaurant this video takes place. You'd think there'd be more people there, but the place is empty! Maybe they're just keeping a tight lid on it. Too many young, gorgeous women appearing out of thin air could spell disaster...though I'm not exactly sure how. :P
