So How Was Your Week? Mine Was Craaaaazy!

So how's your week been? Hopefully it's been much better than mine, which has been extremely stressful and hectic!

I don't have a whole lot of time to get into the details now, so here's a quick "chronological breakdown" of what's happened so far this week...

1.
One of my best friends, who is like a dear sister to me (the sister I never had), was admitted to the emergency room earlier this week. But the good news is that she's fine now. Thank goodness! Long story short, she has Lupus, which at times leads to a whole slew of issues and complications and things that the rest of us are glad we don't ever have to deal with.

She's actually the reason I donated my car to charity rather than selling it or trading it in when I bought my new car a couple of months back. By donating my car, a portion of its value went to the charity of my choice, which of course is the Lupus Foundation of America. So if you're looking for a very worthwhile charity, please do consider this one! :)

2. My dad was also admitted to the emergency room...just yesterday! For goodness sakes! But the good news is that he seems to be fine now as well. He's still in the hospital, however, but hopefully (fingers crossed) he'll be well enough to go home tomorrow...provided that everything goes according to plan.

*If you'd like to a "Get well soon!" message to my dad, just leave it in a comment and I'll make sure that he sees it. I know it'll make his day! :)

3. I was in a car accident today. Rear ended...while stopped at a stop sign! Go figure. But if that's not bad enough, the guy who rear ended me...as it turns out...HAS NO CAR INSURANCE! Yep, it appears that "Juan's" policy was canceled some time ago. Gee, how surprisingly nice.

This is a common problem, especially here in Florida. Uninsured motorists continually game the system. And they do it just like this:

They buy a policy so they can get their vehicle registration...but then they only make the first, initial payment, and that's it. So their policy is quickly canceled. But the state doesn't know that! So if you get into an accident with one of them then you end up paying for it out of your own darn pocket.

Sure, your insurance will cover the damages, but if you have a deductible (like most people), you have to pay it. And in this case, the deductible is $500. Nice. All this so Juan the f-tard can drive illegally on our Florida roads.

Grrrrrrrrr!

Yeah, so I'm still pretty ticked off. But what really gets me is that I wasn't just out on a simple joyride all by myself when he slammed into me (us). I was on my way to a park with my best friend's (see #1) two-year-old daughter for an afternoon of playing and exploration and fun.

And she was sooo excited to be going to the park. Even after the accident (once she had calmed down), while the police and firemen were completing their accident reports, she repeatedly said to them, "Park, park. I go to park. Aaron and me go to park and plaaay!" The poor dear thought we were still going to the park! :(

And for the rest of the afternoon it was much the same thing. Park, park, park. Also accompanied by: Firetruck, street sweeper, tow truck, car had accident, car has boo-boo, Aaron has boo-boo on head, car go boom, etc.

So that's that. And now my neck is tight and sore and Juan's Nationwide policy is as useless as tits on a boar. Just perfect. Yeah, so how was your week? Like I said, I hope it's been much better than mine! :P

  1. Well, with the mind and soul being both sure your father IS allready well, while I have no idea what lupus is - please, let me never know, let me live in ignorance .. ;-) - I could say you had a full of excitement week, Aaron.

As for the kid crying out loud "I want in park, NOW !", you can allways say that park is just about to be moved and is lot of dirt and dust there both old and new place ... worked once for me saying to a kid, of course not mine, I woulnd``t lie mine mwuahahahahahaha.

Cheer up, Aaron, smile, show to that bitch called Life you don`t give a damn that tomorrow may be whorst.

And remember : ALLWAYS yestarday was better than today and far better than tomorrow.

What ? Is not so ? I would lie you ? No, sir : go check the calendar, your NEXT birthday is today one day closer than yestarday ..

    :-)))))

  2. Ha ha, well said Valentin. You always have an interesting take on things. And it's that very interesting (and original) angle of yours that always seems to make things better.

I'm glad to have you as a friend. :)

  3. I hope your father gets better soon and returns home. There is nothing quite as stressful as having a parent who is ill.I also want to say I hope your dear friend stays on top of things, and somehow comes through all her struggles.I'm sure having you as her buddy is helping a lot.
Yep, you've had a bad week, I get them too sometimes! If I tell my girl we are going to do something, and we dont, she never lets me forget about it...nags constantly. Thats kids for ya! Lots of blogger love to you and your family and your ill friend during this difficult time, Aaron...*hugs*

  5. Cookie,

I hope your neck and head feel better, or that you shock them into feeling better with some strong (yet, legal) drugs.

Thank you for mentioning Lupus on your blog, and for touting it as a good charity!

The spawn is exhausted and currently going to bed. I am exhausted and hurting more then ever since the spawn jumped on my lower back. Ahhhh well....

The stuff about Mr. Juan-o is hysterical.

Tell John that he helped me learn about a new medical condition. (Always exciting for me) Ask him if he wants me to research its history and find out what horrible things they use to do to people (it might make him feel better, ha ha). I really hope he got to go home today. For John: Feel better! Get well! Come visit soon and hope it's not so freakin' cold! (That last one was for Mary too!)

Oh, I am thinking of something..., "Will it Blend? A pink mylar Minnie balloon?" I can't wait to find out!

  6. Mother of the Spawn: Thanks for the great comment. Dad should be home today hopefully. It's a day later than expected, but things are looking well. He had real food last night for dinner and should have a real breakfast today.

He hadn't had anything other than liquids for a week and it was funny when I talked to him yesterday. He said, "I had a bun with my meal and oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe how good it tasted. It was so delicious. It was like the best food I'd ever tasted." :P

I'll pass your message on to him today when I talk to him. Tell Betsy I say hello! :)

  9. Good lord man. It seems that when it rains it pours huh? Well best wishes to you and yours, I hope everyone find good health ahead of them.

And I of course hope you two made it to the park. (#):)

  10. Hi Bush. No, we never made it to the park, unfortunately. The vehicle wasn't in any condition to be left unattended. The back end was completely smashed in and the back window was totally gone - smashed to smithereens. If it was stolen or broken into it'd be considered an "open vehicle" and insurance wouldn't cover it.

But there is good news regarding this week's events. My dad came home from the hospital today and is feeling much better. A little week, but overall he says he feels fine and is ecstatic to be home. :)

As always, thanks for the kind words.

  15. Wow, I'm sorry I didn't see this post before. I sure hope your Dad is okay and I know how scary situations like that can be. How cool of a person you are donating your car like that for a friend. You are just a very compassionate person and I am proud to have you as a friend. I don't have to say shine on to you because you shine like the sun all on your own:)

  17. Thanks!!! If you run across Darth Vader, blow some fire on him - it might melt his plastic helmet. He probably wouldn't like that too much:)
